Caregiver Support Group

& Sibling Support Program

Join us for our FREE Caregiver Support Group and Sibling Support Program designed with a family-centred approach!

Our peer-based support initiative offers resources and connections for parents, caregivers, and siblings of children facing mental or behavioral challenges.

What To Expect

4 Week Cycles

The Caregiver and Sibling Support Groups run as 4-week closed cycles, offering a consistent space for connection and shared learning through a set schedule of topics.

Separate Groups

Caregivers will meet in one room while siblings gather in another, fostering age-appropriate discussions.

Siblings’ Participation

Open to kids ages 8-14, eligible siblings must be able to engage positively with their peers. This includes all children living with the affected child, such as cousins, foster siblings, and step-siblings.

Sibling Group

Sibling Groups start with introductions and a review of the group rules. Next, engage in an activity that encourages siblings to share their experiences growing up with a brother or sister who has exceptional needs. Each activity is designed to help siblings process their trauma, share their personal stories, identify and develop coping skills, and offer support to one another. The role of the co-facilitator is threefold: to promote a safe environment, encourage participants to interact with each other, and serve as a knowledgeable resource.

Caregiver Group

The caregiver group starts with introductions, followed by a review of the group rules. The facilitator then shares information about specific parenting strategies designed to promote resilience, reduce trauma, and provide relevant resources. Caregivers have the opportunity to share their stories and support one another.

Who Can Join?

Caregiver Group

All adults in the life of the affected child are welcome, including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other caregivers.

Sibling Group

A safe environment for any siblings to connect, regardless of the challenges they may face.

Please Note: Caregivers can join the group even if their affected children do not attend, and siblings are welcome to participate independently of their caregivers.
