Workplace Mental Health Training for Trades, Energy, Agriculture and Industry

Building Stronger Workplaces Through Real Conversation

Who We Are

Tough Enough To Talk About It is a workplace mental health program designed for real environments, including job sites, farms, shops, offices, and the field. It provides practical tools to help people recognize when someone is struggling, know what to say, and take action.

Built for trades, energy, transportation, and agriculture, the program reflects the realities of long hours, isolation, seasonal pressures, and demanding work environments.

Proudly supported by Thatchwood Ventures, helping expand mental health awareness and suicide prevention across Alberta’s core industries.

Trades, Industry, Oil & Gas, and Agricultural industries face some of the highest suicide rates in North America. In these male-dominated fields, workplace culture often discourages tough conversations. By prioritizing mental health, companies can change
that narrative – creating spaces where open dialogue is encouraged and accepted. When employees feel safe to speak up and connect,
workplaces become stronger, healthier and more productive.

PROVEN WORKPLACE IMPACT

Tough Enough To Talk About It is a program of the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention. It is built specifically for industries where long hours, isolation, and high-pressure environments are part of the job, including agriculture, where seasonal demands and working alone can increase risk.

WHY WORKPLACE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

Trades, energy, transportation, and agriculture sectors face some of the highest suicide rates in North America. In many of these environments, people work long hours, spend time alone, and are expected to manage pressure without speaking up.

In agriculture, isolation, financial stress, and seasonal uncertainty can make it even harder to recognize when someone is struggling.

Creating space for real conversations strengthens safety, improves wellbeing, and supports stronger workplaces.
