Each chair is a framed space for meaning — an invitation to create something that speaks to the heart. For some, it may honour a loved one who has passed; for others, it may celebrate resilience, joy, hope, or transformation. Each piece becomes a deeply personal expression, capturing what words alone often cannot convey.
The act of creating a chair transforms it from an object of utility into a vessel of storytelling. Through shape, color, texture, and design, participants give tangible form to memory and emotion. The empty seat becomes both a presence and an absence — a place that invites reflection, conversation, and shared understanding.
Together, the collection of chairs tells a mosaic of human experience. It reminds us that stories of loss, love, growth, and healing are all connected — and that through art and dialogue, we find common ground. Each year’s chairs carry their own energy and narrative, sparking conversations that continue long after the event ends.
Silent Auction Donations
Our silent auction is a highlight of the Chair Extraordinaire evening, bringing together unique items, experiences, and packages that help raise vital funds for the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention. Every donated item helps spark generosity while supporting programs that foster hope, connection, and life saving conversations in our community.
We invite local businesses, artists, and community members to contribute an item, service, or experience to the auction. Your donation not only supports an important cause but also showcases your organization to a room full of engaged community supporters.
