Weekend Retreat Dates (for teens 13-17):
March 2-4, 2012 and April 27-29, 2012
One-day Workshop for 9-12 Year Olds
April 21, 2012
Additional 1-day workshops for either age group may be available if funding allows.
The Breakfast Club is a free program for teens and 9-12 year olds who are dealing with problems such as conflict with family or friends, school issues, stress, self-esteem issues or emotional struggles. Anybody can make a referral to the Breakfast Club, including teens, parents, guardians, coaches, teachers, agency staff, etc. Contact information is at the bottom of the page.
- TEEN PROGRAM:
Weekend retreats
5-6 weekly follow-up groups,
monthly support and friendship nights
individual support for participants as requested.
- 9-12 YEAR OLD PROGRAM:
one-day workshops
5-6 weekly follow-up groups.
The Breakfast Club also offers educational presentations such as "Depression and Getting Help" to schools and youth groups (click Public Education on the left).
Topics at retreats and workshops include stress, feelings, dealing with anger, bullying, friendships, family relationships and problem solving. Meals and snacks are provided.
Retreats and workshops are free to attend, thanks to our funders: Alberta Health Services, the Child and Family Services Authority, FCSS Green View, Community Social Development/FCSS City of Grande Prairie, FCSS County of Grande Prairie No. 1, fundraising, and donations. The Community Foundation has provided a grant to help with transportation costs.
